For once, this is not a right wing vs. left wing issue. Everyone can agree that the apathy of the world, and also of fellow Israeli Citizens, to the suffering of Sderot residents is shameful. The right wing should rise passionately and demand the security it constantly demands in all parts of Israel. The left wing should rise in defense of the basic human rights of the Sderot residents to live their lives without constant fear of falling rockets. Jews and non Jews should unite to oppose this obvious wrong. No one should be silent.
Civilians are being targeted and no one is speaking. Where is the international outrage which followed the killing of the Monks in Burma? Where is the international outrage which followed the killing of Benazir Bhutto? Where is CNN when it’s Jewish Children which are being killed? Is it not a humanitarian problem when it is Jewish Children being targeted?
Sderot Residents are now rallying all around Israel.
What can we do to help them in their cry for help? I’m thinking of practical stuff. I am here in Montreal, so far away from these regular people who were forced into the position of National Heroes. What can I do to help?

I was tryig to think of something, but the best I can come up with is that we can at least be informed and bring an awareness to this side of the world.
I think that’s amajor problem with these kinds of situations, at least for us who are chutz la’aretz - to know that something is going and just even want to do soething to help.
I’m sure this is the first step, awareness, and the next would be actually doing something… But then we’re back where we started aren’t we…

You make a good point, Dan.
I heard recently about an American group of musicians that goes and plays for IDF soldiers, to boost their morale and to show them that they think they are awesome… this is something that they don’t necessarily get by default…
Maybe we could get involved in things like that? This would also increase a public awareness of the Sderot residents and their situation, as you mention, bat yisrael…

I agree with both of you. I think that one of the best ways to olve this situation is to inform peole about what’s happening because less that 25% of my peers know about Sderot. Fundraisers sponsored by children to gather goods and money will help both the resedence and raise awareness.

Hi,
I’m looking for trustable organizations to which I can donate money to help Sderot residents.
So far I only found http://www.amitchildren.org/sdform.asp reliable.
Does anyone know any other ?
Or does any one have any better suggestion how to use the money to help Sderot residents ?
Please write to my e-mail below, I won’t probably remember to enter here to check for replies.
