Just as there are laws to poetry, there is a poetry to the laws of the Torah. — Rav Avraham Itzhak Hakohen Kook

Tzipiyah.com is proud to announce a new MEGA-Project through which our readers will be able to win REAL incredible prizes.

Every week, on Tzipiyah.com, we will post a “Question of the Week” - a question which we will ask our readers to answer through the commenting system on the blog. Every week, we will put all of the answers found in the comments in a raffle from which we will draw one name which will get a special, real prize!

All you need to do to enter is share your insight on the “Question of the Week” and in exchange you get a chance to win actual prizes!

We have already secured incredible prizes for the weeks to come including:
- Gift certificates towards free chocolates
- Gift certificates towards free Jewish MP3s
- Free CDs from incredible Jewish artists
- Free Books from great Jewish authors

Make sure to check back often in order to find the “Question of the Week” and give your input for your chance to be the winner! The first question with a prize will be posted this coming Sunday!

The latest Question of the Week will always be directly accessible here .

You can subscribe to the RSS feed for the “Questions of the Week” here.

You can subscribe to receive the “Question of the Week” by email here.

If you would like to be the sponsor of a Question of the Week by offering your product to the winner, please email tzipiyah@gmail.com

A few rules also deserve your attention:
1. The raffle will be drawn at Random from all the names of the people who provided thoughtful answers (whether we agree with them or not, as long as they are thoughtful) using a computer program called “The Hat”.
2. In order to be considered for the raffle, you must include your email in the comment you leave for us to be able to contact you.
3. Only answers posted directly on Tzipiyah.com’s website will be considered.
4. The answers need to be in by 2 pm on Friday, Israel Time. A bit after, we will announce the winner and post his answer.
5. By posting your answer, you allow us to republish it (which we will do on the website if you are the winner).
6. This whole project does not create any legal obligation to Tzipiyah.com or any of its partners. The selection of the winner, done randomly by a computer program, cannot be contested. (As a Law School Student I need to make sure I watch my back hehe).

  1. RAS Says:

Well, this can be thought out in a few differents ways. First of all, we proved at Mount Sinai with the building of the golden calf that when left alone without leadership and only amongst equals, we basically fall off the derech and greatly veer away from the path of Holiness upon which we try to always tread. As a result, the Jewish people proved to Hashem that it is imperative that we have different leaders in order to remind and inspire our community of Hashem and his ways. That way, those with a stronger Yetzar Hara than Tov will find inspiration and confidence in beating that struggle because they see others who were able to reach higher spiritual planes.

  2. RAS Says:

You can also think of this simply in political terms. When a nation is being presented to the world, you cannot have every single person within the nation stand for the nation. Instead you choose a representative, one who you think will bring a positive reputation and goodwill for your nation. You also must have leadership in for military operations. If the entire nation fights as equals, then it will simply be mass chaos, with each person doing what he or she thinks is the best fighting technique. Instead, with leaders, you have the most experienced and best trained and knowledgeable leaders who affect unity and organizaton into warfare. as a result, as little lives as possible are taken. Thus, a hierarchy must be established.

  3. RAS Says:

Lastly for today, it is important to look at societies throughout history, including our own. The societies that function the most efficiently are ones where the members each have different roles, and they work interdependently.

  4. RAS Says:

Hashem wants us to stay connected to one another, and it is a Mitzvah to consider each Jew your brother or sister. If everybody lived an independent lifestyle, then a need for interaction would not be facilitated, and this sense of family and community would never develop. If you think about it, no matter what the job, everybody is a leader in their own field. With education, teachers are leaders in the classrooms. Mothers in their homes. Rabbis in society. The Jewish King or a President for the society. When it comes to the meat industry, the Shochet is a leader. So it is necessary to make a hierarchy, because then every field of work is adequately covered to allow only the most nimble and knowledgeable minds in the chosen field to help raise the upcoming generations or ensure that the laws of Judaism, like Kashrut or Shabbat, are kept. By having those leaders concentrate only on their fields, it also allows them to focus all of their brainpower on that one job and Hashem Himself. The less multi-tasking one has to do, the greater opporunity, time, and effort they'll have to learn their one specific job.
